The heartbeat of our work

Where a love of design and community energize a city

My story

I’m Eric Hart, Owner of Hartbreakers Creative

I’m an eighth-generation Syracusan, ninth-generation Onondaga County resident, and the sole member of the design studio Hartbreakers Creative.

I earned my BFA in Communications Design from Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2010, then left for New York City to pursue my dream of working at an ad agency in Manhattan. Three years later I landed in Tokyo, Japan, splitting my time between the two cities for the next decade — working everywhere from small mom-and-pop shops to huge multi-national agencies, in-house for Japanese tech companies and world-famous streaming platforms.

After that whirlwind, I knew it was time to come home. Syracuse is in the middle of a renaissance and I’m excited to bring everything I learned back to the community that raised me.

Why Hartbreakers?

Love is power

This is true for the world at large but also for companies, organizations and brands. It’s the power you get from your customers’ love of your product and the power you give yourself when you love what you do.

That love-as-power can break new ground, break barriers, and break expectations.

Through its design work, Hartbreakers Creative gives the love and attention that is needed to empower clients to break through and achieve their goals.

The Heartbreakers mission

Design that serves Syracuse

I’ve started this company so I can give back to my local Syracuse community by offering my design services to local businesses and organizations that are in need of design, marketing and consulting help. Through my design work, my goal is to have a positive impact on the community that raised me and to inspire the next generation of artists, designers, and thought leaders.
